SHEVINGTON SHARKS UNDER 8'S 28 - 40 INCE ROSE BRIDGE U8's - 02 Dec 2007.
Good game from both sides as they battled this one out on a cold and rainy Sunday morning with Bridge coming out on top.
The Sharks give it everything they had but they couldn't handle the speed the Bridge team had. Bridge turned up with 8 players so Philip Jones from Shevington played for them and scored 2 tries and tackled well which didn't help the Sharks as they couldn't score early on and ended up playing catch up rugby as Bridge piled on the tries. But the attitude of the players for the Sharks was excellent especially new guys Liam Hutchins, Bradley Clarke, Miles Ogden, and Coaches Award winner Daniel Cahill who had a fine game.
The opposition failed to handle Man Of The Match and Top Tackler Jack Welsby as he ripped through them every time he got the ball using his quality sidestep. Welsby collected a magnificent Hat trick of tries. Hutchins scored his first try for the Sharks today. Cameron Birkett got one. Evan Aylward-Barton scored a Good try from close range. And a good powerful run by Joe Horrobin saw him break through and score. But in the end it was Bridge's day as Shevington couldn't stop them from scoring. But it was an excellent effort by the Sharks and probably deserved more than what they got out of this game.
Shevington Sharks U8's 8 - Latchford Albions Unicorns U8's 20 - 25th Nov 2007.
Shevington travelled to Warrington to face Latchford Albion Unicorns at Victoria Park.
The Sharks turned up with a very impressive 13 man squad with full debuts for Miles Ogden, Daniel Cahill and Bradley Clarke which meant The Sharks had 4 sets of fresh legs entering the frame throughout the match.
A one minutes applause paid tribute to The Great Mike Gregory who had died a week early after a long battle against a form of motor neurone disease before game for his commitment to the game we love.
The Sharks were facing an inform Latcford outfit who had several big players but this didnt effect the Sharks who tackled bravely throughout the match.
Latchford opened the scoring early on but The Sharks heads didn't go down and showed courage and determination to take it to there large opponent's and where held up twice on the Latchford line once from an inform Jack Welsby and a side stepping run from Jak Price who received the Spectators Award for his overall never say die attitude. Towards the end of the first half the Latchford players started to tire and Man of the Match Sam Favell made them pay with a strong run down the right hand side brushing off Latchford defenders to score in the corner on the stroke of half time.
The Sharks took the score on half time into the second half but mistakes where made by the Sharks surrendering possession from running into touch and some loose carries which Latchford capitalised on with 3 unanswered trys early in the second half. The Sharks refused to give up with big efforts from all the team who continued to tackle the hearts out with Bradley Clarke being rewarded with the Mars Bar for being Top Tackler on 11 tackles with Welsby a close second with 10.
The Sharks efforts were rewarded with a second try from Favell who brushed off Latchfords strong defenders to score in the right hand corner. This was the result of hard yards made by Coaches Award Winner Clarke and strong runs from Welsby, Cameron Birkett and James Crank who made the yards to setup Favell's second try.
Towards the end of the game the size difference told and Latchford notched a further score at the end to finish any Sharks comeback hopes and the game finished Shevington Sharks 8 Latchford Albion Unicorns 20.

The Sharks played well and overcame a very big and tough Chorley Panthers outfit. The Sharks scored first with Spectators Award Winner Sam Favell after some good yards up field from Joe Horrobin who keeps getting better every week, and James Crank. The Sharks then conceded but hit back straight away when Man Of The Match Cameron Birkett went through near the corner and then cut back in to go under the posts. Jack Welsby scored next to stretch the lead and Welsby scored again when he scooted from acting half spinning through and planting the ball down with three men on him. Birkett finished off the half with a good try scoring near to the posts.
In the second half The Sharks scored first again with Sam Favell powering through the middle brushing off defenders left and right. Coaches Award winner Liam Hutchins had a good debut game making some crucial tackles and some good runs. Philip Jones scored a fantastic try next when he combined pace with a great sidestep which cut the Panthers defence in half and he sprinted through nobody near him to go under the posts. SHEVINGTON SHARKS U8's 12 - INCE ROSE BRIDGE U8's 16 - 4th Nov 2007.
The Sharks we're very unlucky in the second half as they got very close to scoring a few times but the Rose Bridge defence was strong and very aggressive. Some good running from Joe Horrobin which earned him the coaches award, and some excellent defence from Man Of The Match Jack Welsby who got on the score sheet. Birkett scored a second, going full length of the field to finish off the Sharks scoring, but it wasn't enough as Rose Bridge scored near the end to win the game.

Birkett was the next scorer who scored another good try in the corner. Coaches Award Winner Sam Favell ran hard and his effort earned him his first try of the season to make the half time score 16 - 4.
Widnes started the second half well scoring to quick tries. and some good defence from Adam Parkes and Birkett to hold a player up over the line. Aylward-Barton took the ball in and slipped a pass to Birkett for him to complete his Hat-trick. Birkett scored again from Dummy Half and again from another offload from Welsby. Joe Horrobin was the next to get on the score sheet and his hard tackling helped him earn the Man Of The Match Award. Birkett finished the game off in style with another classy try to make the score 36 - 12.
