The 2nd half saw both teams swapping alternate scores to set up a nail biting finish with the score at 32-28. With the last play of the game the elusive, try-scoring machine Sam Halsall steamed over the try line to even the scores & bring the curtain down on an amazing game played by two outstanding teams. Sharks 2nd half tries came from Sam Halsall (2), Jack Bithell-Unsworth, Jake Falconer & Jack Welsby.

To come from behind against such tough opposition and get that draw was outstanding. The deafening cheer from the sidelines and the look of joy in the players faces when Sam registered that final score just goes to show how much passion everyone involved with the U7's has."

Shevington Sharks U7s 40 - Wigan St. Pats U7s 28 - 25th November 2007.

When these 2 sides last met it ended in a draw so a very hard, close contest was expected & the players from both teams certainly didn't disappoint.

In the first half it was Shevington's Sam Halsall who scored first, followed by an amazing solo effort from Spectators Award winner Sam Hewitt who eluded numerous tacklers to give the Sharks an 8 - 0 lead. St. Pats never gave up & despite further tries from Oliver Brookes & Man-Of-The-Match Matthew Ellis the half time score was extremely close at 16 - 12.

In the second half Shevington built on their lead with a hat-trick from Jack Bithell-Unsworth, a second try from Sam Halsall & further tries from Joe Lowe and Jake Falconer. St. Pats kept fighting back but the Sharks managed to maintain their lead to take the victory.

Coaches Award went to Luke Wilkinson, who in only his third match for Shevington Sharks made some fantastic tackles, including a number close to his own try line to keep the opposite out.

Shevington Sharks U7s 28 - Newton Storm U7s 12 - 18th November 2007.

In a game played in terrible conditions, Shevington Sharks showed true grit & determination. Despite the mud, wind & rain they displayed some excellent rugby skills.

In the first half Thomas Holt opened the scoring for the Sharks with a length of the field try. This was closely followed by tries for Joe Lowe, Oliver Brookes & 2 for Man-of-the-Match winner Sam Halsall. Newton did managed to breach Sharks defence to also score taking the 1st half to 4 - 20.

In the 2nd half Sharks looked like they were going to carry on with their score fest with Spectators Award winner Harry Mosley scoring early, but Newton battled back with 2 consecutive tries and some good defence which saw 2 further tries from Shevington being disallowed for being in touch. A late try from Sam Halsall saw him grab his hat-trick & sealed the game. Coaches Award went to Luke Hindley for some great forward running & defence.

Coaches Martyn Ellis & Simon Atherton said "It was a credit to both teams to keep going in such terrible conditions."

Shevington Sharks U7’s 24 - Leigh Miner Rangers U7’s 32 - 11th Nov 2007.

This was an excellent game played in great spirits with not much between the two sides. The first half saw the teams score alternate tries throughout and at half time their was nothing to seperate them with the scores level at 16 - 16. Sharks tries came from Jack Bithell-Unsworth, Sam Halsall, Spectators Award winner Oliver Brookes and Man-Of-The-Match winner Matthew Ellis.

The 2nd half started in much the same way and with only minutes on the clock the game was still level. However, 2 late unanswered tries from Leigh Miners saw them edge ahead to take the final score to 24 - 32. Sharks 2nd half tries came from Tommy Parker and Joe Lowe. Harry Mosley took home the coveted Coaches Award but he was run extremely close by Luke Hindley who captained the side for the day and debutant Luke Wilkinson.

Coach Martyn Ellis was very proud of the lads performance and was especially impressed with how they played as a team.

Shevington Sharks U7s 12 - Ince Rose Bridge U7s 8 - 28th Oct 2007.

This was an outstanding game of rugby, played in great spirit by both sides.

The first half saw Sharks steam ahead 8 - 0 with 2 tries from spectators award winner Sam Halsall, but Rose Bridge didn't give up & at half time the scores were level 8 - 8.

Each team was so evenly matched that it took a moment of genius in the final seconds of the game from Sam Halsall to complete his hat-trick & give Shevington the win. Oliver Brookes scooped Coaches Award for a magnificent defensive display. Man-Of-The-Match Award went to Tommy Parker for some outstanding tackling & great forward running.

Coaches Martyn, Tommy & Simon were made up for the lads. They stuck at it & showed what great team spirit they have got.

SHEVINGTON SHARKS U7'S 32  HALTON FARNWORTH U7'S 8 - 21st Oct 2007.

What a superb first victory for the Sharks against very determined opponents from Widnes.

Coaches award winner Joseph Lowe opened the scoring for Shevington with a length of the field effort. Spectators award winner and also on his debut for the Sharks, Sam Halsall had a great game scoring two tries. Other tries were scored by Man of the match, Matthew Ellis, Ben Wilcock, Thomas Holt, Jack Bithell-Unsworth and Tommy Parker. Special mention also to Harry Moseley who on debut for Shevington had a superb game for the Sharks.

SHEVINGTON SHARKS U7'S 8  BLACKBROOK U7'S 24 - 14th Oct 2007.

An elusive run from the lightening Tommy Parker saw him score his first try  for the Sharks but  Shevington still trailed 8-4 at the break.
However, the Sharks struggled to contain Blackbrook in the 2nd half despite some outstanding tackles from Spectators Award winner Oliver Brookes. The Sharks' scoring machine Jack Bithell-Unsworth did score a consulation try in the second half but it was too late to secure victory.  Thomas Holt was awarded Man-Of-The-Match due to his never say die attitude and great individual performances from Jake Falconer and Joe Lowe, who was making his debut, made it impossible to decide who to give the coverted Coaches Award to so both players shared the honour.

Coach Martyn Ellis was proud of the lads and knows that if they keep their heads working hard in training their first win is just around the corner.

SHEVINGTON SHARKS U7'S 20 WIGAN ST PATS U7'S 20 - 30th Sept 2007.

Both teams were evenly matched and this was represented in the final score line. Matthew Ellis got the Sharks off to a good start with an early try. St Pats hit back quickly with a try of their own. Great footwork by Coaches award winner Sam Hewitt got the Sharks next try. St Pats then ran in 2 quick tries leaving the Sharks with work to do but dependable Man-Of-The-Match Jack Bithell-Unsworth got the Sharks within one touchdown just before half-time.

The 2nd half same a further try for Bithell-Unsworth and a try from Thomas Holt, who earned himself Spectators Award for an outstanding defensive display.

Coaches Martyn Ellis & Simon Atherton were very proud of the lads. '"In only their 2nd match together they showed alot of courage and determination. They never gave up and they are a credit to Shevington Sharks." added Atherton

SHEVINGTON SHARKS U7'S 12 - LEIGH MINERS RANGERS U7'S 28 - 23nd Sept 2007

In the Under 7's first ever match they came up against a more experienced Leigh Miners team. Despite this they played outstanding and the score certainly does not do justice to the effort they put in and the skills they displayed.

Sharks first try came from the elusive Oliver Brookes, with the following tries both from Man of the match Jack Bithell-Unsworth (who would have scored a hat-trick if it weren't for a stray foot in touch).

Coaches Award going to Ben Wilcock and Spectators Award to Matthew Ellis.

Coaches Martyn Ellis and Simon Atherton were extremely proud of all the players and found it difficult to name just one to take the covereted Coaches Award. The legendary ex-Wigan Scrum-Half Shaun Edwards was there to cheer on the young Sharks and commented that the whole team deserved the Man-of-the-Match award.
