Latest from Official Wigan Warriors Website:

Shevington Sharks U17’s 18 - Saddleworth U17's 12 - 11th Nov 2007.

A 12 man Sharks team put in an outstanding effort to defeat a full strength Saddleworth team.

After a long scoreless tussle Saddleworth eventually got over the line. The Sharks replied with a long range strike from Nick Higham to go to the break 6-4 down.

In the 2nd half the Sharks took the lead with a sensational try by Ian Browne who picked up a loose ball in his own half and outpaced the defence to score, Kris Convery added the extras.

They extended their lead when Man of the Match and Top Tackler Craig Andrews worked a scrum move to race over from long range. However the conversion struck the bar. As the Sharks looked to close the game out indiscipline cost Saddleworth and Convery was able to extend the lead with a well struck penalty. Saddleworth did add a score with minutes to go but another Convery penalty sealed the game and a well deserved victory for the Sharks. Chris Bates and Joe Mossad were awarded the Coaches award.

Shevington Sharks U17's 12 - Oldham St Annes U17's 36 - 4th Nov 2007.

The Sharks welcomed back Ian Browne & Danny Mapson from long term injuries & gave a debut to Ashley Brennan.

The first half belonged to St Annes with a number of handling errors gifting them possession & allowing them to build up a 26-0 lead before the outstanding Craig Andrews registered a fine individual score before the break.

In the second half the Sharks were outstanding with some strong charges by Ashley Brennan, Joe Mossad, Chris Bates & Tom Goodburn. After going close several times excellent handling saw Ian Browne offload to Danny Mapson who scored out wide. The Sharks stormed back again & James Collins was just denied in the corner from a great cut out ball from Craig Andrews.

They weren’t to be denied though & a probing kick from Jordan Melling was well read by Nick Higham who gathered the ball superbly to score. St Annes were becoming increasingly frustrated by the Sharks defence with Danny Miller saving some certain tries, & it wasn’t until the last 5 minutes that they were able to add to their score.

The depleted Sharks can take great pride from their performance & they earned a lot of respect from the opposition players & coaches.

Top Tackler was Craig Andrews, The Coaches Award went to Tom Goodburn & Ashley Brennan on was adjudged Man of the Match on debut.

SHEVINGTON SHARKS U17’S 16 CHORLEY PANTHERS U17’S 32 - 14th Oct 2007.

A depleted Sharks team showed remarkable team spirit in an entertaining game at home to Chorley Panthers.

Chorley scored first, but the Sharks fought back with a great try by Danny Miller, but an interception right on half time saw Chorley lead 16-6 at the break.

The second period began with Chorley extending their lead but again the Sharks came back with Chris Bates scoring a superb individual try, his first of the season, Tom Goodburn converted.

Chorley managed another try before the Sharks scored the try of the game when Man of the match, Craig Andrews charged through the Chorley defence, offloaded to the supporting Jordan Melling who streaked away, again Coaches award winner, and Tom Goodburn added the extras.
