SHEVINGTON SHARKS U15’S 24 HAYDOCK U15’S 20 - 20th April 2008.
Haydock took an early lead with two early tries but it was Captain Ben Tate who showed great strength and commitment to score the first Sharks try. This was soon followed by a Jack Fairhurst special scoring under the sticks and Ryan Stevens converted.
Second half saw Coaches Choice Ricki House and stand off Sam Pepper take control and MOM Ben Logan leapt athletically to score from Peppers kick A good kick from Kane Davenport saw Josh Rowlands gather then sidestep his way to the whitewash for a well deserved try and Alex Bridge then crashed over to score again converted by Stevens. SHEVINGTON SHARKS U15’S 8 NEW SPRINGS U15’S 44 - 13th April 2008.
Severely hampered by injuries and late cry-offs a depleted team emerged with great credit losing 44-8 to a well drilled New Springs team who look likely to win the league. Man of the Match Ben Logan ran and tackled well throughout and he grabbed a well taken try as Ben Tate, Ryan Stevens Ash Herrington and Coaches Choice Alex Bridge worked overtime in the forwards. Sam Pepper was busy at stand off and he ran thru 4 tacklers for the last try of the match.
Shevington Sharks U15s 24 Langworthy Reds U15s 28 - 30th March 2008.
With only 12 men against a big tough Langworthy team this was a heroic effort from the Sharks. Man of the match Jack Fairhurst with a hat-trick of scintillating tries running elusively from fullback. Top tackler and inspiring captain Ben Tate tackled himself to a standstill as did Ryan Stevens and stand off Sam Pepper who played with controlled aggression and scored the fourth Sharks try all 4 converted by Stevens. MoGhafoor made several good runs and offloads as did Ben Logan and Alex Coupe in the centres but with no subs we ran out of steam on a good pitch well refereed.
Coach John Fairhurst was full of praise for the team “The lads showed Great Spirit and commitment and I am very proud of them all, superb effort”
SHEVINGTON SHARKS U15’S 12 BANK QUAY U15’S 18 - 2nd March 2008.
This was a lack-lustre display on a heavy pitch from the Sharks. Only Man of the Match Sam Pepper with 2 tries, Top tackler Ben McKenzie with the other try along with Coaches Choice Jack Fairhurst really performed.
Half backs Ricki House and Pepper ran the ball well. Alex Coupe in the centres showed good hands and had a good game as did sub Danny Bates however poor tackling kept Bank Quay's noses in front.
SHEVINGTON SHARKS U15’S 18 WIDNES MOORFIELD U15’S 26 - 24th Feb 2008.
The Sharks stormed back from 10 - 0 down to lead 18-14 at the break with tries from full back Jack Fairhurst Man Of the Match Ricki House and wing Ben Logan converted by Ryan Stevens. Top tackler MoGhafoor was in outstanding form for Shevington and he was well supported by, Coaches Award winner Ash Herrington and Ben Tate who put in determined tackling performance. Two late tries and a succession of penalties conceded harshly gave Widnes field position and ultimately the victory.
SHEVINGTON SHARKS U15’S 36 SHAW RHINOS U15’S 0 - 10th Feb 2008.
A hat-trick from MOM Ben McKenzie was the highlight for the Sharks and he was well supported by hooker Ryan Stevens and half backs Sam Pepper and Coaches Choice Ricki House. Some great tackling from Ben Tate and Mo Ghafoor along with top tackler Josh Rowland led to good field position and prop Kane Davenport crashed over.
Other tries came from Jack Fairhurst Ghafoor and House along with 3 conversions from Stevens and one from Pepper.
SHEVINGTON SHARKS U15’S 30 BANK QUAY BULLS U15’S 6 - 18th Nov 2007.
In a really good team effort exemplified by Man Of the Match Carl Butler who despite being the smallest on the pitch was in superb form, both in attack and defence. Big hits from Mo Ghafoor and Ben Tate rattled the opposition and Jack Fairhurst ran well to open the scoring followed by good try scoring efforts from Sam Pepper and Alex Bridge. Ryan Stevens found his kicking boots at last and at half time the Sharks led 18-2.
Ben Logan surprised everyone by scooting in from dummy half and good passing led to another Fairhurst try. Bank Quay never gave up but strong tackling by Josh Rowlands kept them at bay until the last minute when. Kane Davenport got his debut try and Ashley Herrington nearly forced his way over after a powerful burst by prop Jason Green. Stevens kicked 3 conversions in a deserved victory.
SHEVINGTON SHARKS U15’S 20 WIDNES MOORFIELD U15’S 24 - 11th Nov 2007.
Despite a fabulous hat-trick from Man Of the Match Jack Fairhurst running onto well timed passes from Top tackler Ben Tate and half backs Sam Pepper and the impressive Ryan Stevens.
The Sharks scored first after a determined burst by Tate. Shevington soon added another try when the strong running MoGhafoor went over in the cornerling Alex Bridge, despite being injured, scored a good try and made a wonderful tackle showing great spirit as did Danny Bates who played whilst sick and Carl Butler who had a knee injury. Jack Fairhurst stepped his way through and then thrillingly ran wide to score twice to keep the game close thru the second half.
SHEVINGTON SHARKS U15'S 4 SADDLEWORTH RANGERS U15'S 42 - 21st Oct 2007.
Another phenomenal effort from the Sharks, playing with a seriously depleted side missing 7 players, they came up against a very good Saddleworth side. But the scoreline does not do justice to the hard work the lads put into the game
.
Coaches choice Ben Logan and forwards Ben Tate, Mo Ghafoor and Jason Green all put in some great effort against their superior opponents and the packed touchline support gave the boys a great reception at the end.
Special mention to the referee who had an outstanding game.
