SHEVINGTON SHARKS U10S 16 CLOCK FACE U10S 24 - 13th April 2008.

What an entertaining game of rugby played out on a very heavy pitch and from the start thanks to Clock face for the loan of four players as Shevington struggling with injuries were only able to field 8 fit players and Clock's gesture certainly played a main part in this great advert for junior Rugby League.

After a first ten minutes where both sides cancelled each other out it was Clock face that scored first and went on to score again before Sharks replied via Clock's own Ben Heyes with a fine individual effort. Half Time Sharks 4 Clock face 8.

The second half produced some fine rugby with both teams using the ball well in view of the conditions. Man of The Match Scott Taylor put Carl Hunt and Sharks Spectators Award Winner Jamie Molyneux through the defence for a try each before scoring the Sharks final try. Jack Fowler and Taylor gave a fine defensive display and earned himself the Coaches Award.

The Sharks travelled to their namesakes in Warrington and both teams played out a tough encounter certainly not lacking in bite! As per Sharks recent games they struggled to get going in the first half and were behind 16-6 at the interval, in the second half Sharks yet again showed fantastic effort matching Rylands 3 tries each and with the Sharks hitting 100% with their conversions made for an extremely tense finish to the game.

Captain Scott Taylor had a hand in all of Sharks tries from acting half and they were scored by: Man Of The Match and Top Tackler Jordan Bentham who was outstanding and upstanding in all departments, Coaches Award Winner Alex Lewczenko who was again very impressive in both attack and defence and Spectators Award Winner Josh Finch who caught the eye in attack. Sharks other try and no doubt Try of the match came from Nick Bentham after a bold powerplay move on the last tackle from Scott Taylor saw him offload from inside Sharks own half down the short side to Nick who put in a fantastic run taking on half of the Rylands team and leaving them in his wake to score!

Shevington Sharks U10's 24 - Chorley Panthers U10's 24 - 18th Nov 2007.

On the coldest darkest day this year this match definately left all players parents and coaches of both teams feeling warm and proud!! Shevington Sharks U10s 10 - Crossfield Cobras U10s 14 - 28th Oct 2007.

What a fantastic performance today from the Sharks taking this epic game to the wire and it was a true shame that they conceded in the final minute of the game after twice coming from behind to level the score. After losing yet another player during midweek with a long term injury the Sharks finally got to field eleven players as they welcomed twins Nick and Jordan Bentham for their debuts and infact their very first game of Rugby League, not that you would have noticed as both players put in superb running and tackling performances,Jack Fowler was Top Tackler and was very well supported by Sharks other pocket sized assassins George Burrows, Will Ratcliffe and Rob Aspinall who all did more than their fair share in defence. Aiden McGuire kept up his great run of form always in the thick of things and picking up a try,Sharks other try was scored by another in form player Jamie Molyneux which was converted by Jordan Bentham.Taking into account all of these outstanding performances it was impossible to pick out any one individual for an award and the coaches decided to give the whole team the coaches award.

This was without doubt the Sharks best performance of the season so far!

SHEVINGTON SHARKS U10'S 8  FOLLY LANE U10'S 24 - 21st Oct 2007.

What a Fantastic Team Performance!! from the the Sharks against a very well organised Folly side, Sharks were again short in numbers but never lacked in effort as they played their hearts out for each other from start to finish and even though the result did not go their way there was a great sense of achievement amongst the whole camp, Jamie Molyneux had a fantastic all round game and quite rightly picked up the Man Of The Match award and scored a fine try, George Burrows small in size but big in heart gave a great defensive performance which was noted from the touchline as he scooped the Spectators Award and this was also the case for Jack Fowler who finished the game as Top Tackler and took away the Coaches Award, Powerhouse prop Aiden McGuire impressed yet again scoring the Sharks other try and Sean Akdemir gave a much improved performance relishing his new role of prop forward.

Head Coach Mick Taylor commented " It has been a difficult time for the Sharks and now losing our Captain Scott for the next 12 to 14 weeks through injury hasn't helped, in fact since the start of the season we have been low on numbers due to sickness and injury, with only a small squad this has shown the true sense of the Team and All For One and One For All Ethic from these lads when week in week out we have been putting players in different positions, playing matches when they have known the odds are against them but they still have trained hard turned up on Sundays and played for each other. The way they supported their captain and each other and seeing the squad before during and after the game today with smiles on their faces reminds us why as Coaches we do this Job and i do believe we have a group of lads here who the more obstacles they have to face seem to become stronger and stronger i can't remember being more proud of the lads as I was today.

Well Done Sharks!!"

SHEVINGTON SHARKS U10'S 8 LEIGH EAST U10'S 36 - 14th Oct 2007.

The Sharks travelled to Leigh and on the whole gave a good account of themselves against a strong East outfit. The Sharks were 24-4 down at the interval but rallied in the second half to only conceed 3 tries whilst scoring one more themselves. Anton Lowton scored both of the Sharks tries and had a great all round game, Man of the Match Aiden McGuire gave yet another solid performance whilst the spectators award went to the ever alert Jamie Molyneux,Top Tackler and Coaches Award Winner Scott Taylor displayed a great kicking game and gave a gritty defensive performance playing the majority of the second half with what turned out later to be a badly broken finger.

Shevington Sharks U10's 24 - Newton storm U10's 36 - 7th Oct 2007.

Sharks entertained Newton with only nine fit players available but never the less played the game to its conclusion. Spectators Award winner Jamie Molyneux gave a very impressive defensive display and also scored 2 fine individual tries, Coaches Award winner Josh Finch scored as well as being Top Tackler, whilst other Sharks tries came from Connor Gaskell 2 and Anton Lowton 1 Storm voted Aiden McGuire as Man Of The Match for an aggressive running display and Will Ratcliffe gave a brave defensive effort.

Head Coach Mick Taylor commented " We have yet to play 11 a side due to numbers of players from both ourselves and opposition teams, so a shortage of players was not a new occurrence, we are a team always capable of scoring tries the big difference this week even though playing similar opposition was the fact we conceded nine tries in one game as many as in our first two matches hopefuly we shall have players back fit for next week then we can put out a full side"

SHEVINGTON SHARKS U10'S 20 MILNROW COBRAS U10'S 16 - 30th Sept 2007.

The Sharks travelled away to Milnrow with just 10 men and played out a good spirited and enjoyable game of rugby with their opponents and also found out that Rugby League is a game of two halves!

The Sharks opened the scoring when Man Of The Match and Spectators Award Winner Scott Taylor ran the angle whilst threatening to offload and cut through the defence to score, this was followed by two fine individual tries from Top Tackler Alex Lewczenko and a further score from a powerfull run from Anton Lowton, the hosts replying just once Half-Time Sharks 16 Milnrow 4.

The second half Milnrow rallied and as the Sharks began to lose possession and fall off the tackle they took full advantage setting up a tense finish,Coaches Award Winner Robert Aspinall scored what proved to be the decisive try showing his support skills and getting himself in a good position to receive a pass from Scott Taylor and then using his pace to arc around the Milnrow defence to score!.

SHEVINGTON SHARKS U10'S 32 - WESTHOUGHTON LIONS U10'S 20 - 23nd Sept 2007

Sharks got their new season off to a good start with a victory over the Lions, and it was a good all round effort by both teams and some good skills were on display.
